In April and May, relaxation, regeneration and well-being take center...
We, Maria Theresia and Wolfgang, are not actually trained "hospitality professionals". Our "career" began in banking; we worked for a long time at the Raiffeisenkasse in Marlengo. But over time, the "dry banking life" became too monotonous, and our desire for "independence and variety" grew stronger. But what do you do in South Tyrol if you don’t want to work in an office? We have always enjoyed being around people, and we have always been interested in the hospitality industry. Our initial wish and dream of running a restaurant were promptly dashed by a newspaper advertisement:
"Pension Mutspitz in Algund for sale"!
In June 1999, we visited the guesthouse and immediately fell in love with the house, the location, and the view. We made a very quick decision: in December 1999, we proudly became "innkeepers" in Algund. Our first season began on 1 April 2000, and yes, we are still in this former "Pension Mutspitz" today… thank goodness!
The early days were not entirely straightforward, but as the saying goes, "apprenticeship is no holiday". We enjoyed the work so much that we soon learned the "craft" of hospitality and mastered it better and better. We ran the "Mutspitz" guesthouse with 28 beds, which we renamed "Maria Theresia", for three years. It was a time of "renovations" in Lagundo, so we also decided to expand and redesign our guesthouse in the winter of 2002. By April 2003, the renovation work was complete. We now had 41 beds and a brand-new house.
In den darauffolgenden Jahren wurden immer wieder kleine Änderungen vorgenommen, im Großen und Ganzen sieht das Haus aber immer noch so aus, wie nach dem großen Umbau von 2003.
2013 und 2017 gab es dann leider einige Rückschläge, Herzinfarkt und Schlaganfall machten uns nachdenklich. Kurze Zeit haben wir überlegt, diesen Beruf aufzugeben, da auch unsere Tochter Felicitas noch nicht so weit war, den Betrieb zu übernehmen. Wir haben uns anders entschieden, haben 2019 neue Kräfte gesammelt, die Tiefgarage und den Außenbereich neu gestaltet, ebenfalls den Speisesaal und das
Buffet neu gebaut. Und auch unsere Tochter ist mittlerweile voll mit von der Partie und hat große Freude und Enthusiasmus bei dieser wunderbaren Arbeit.
